The Show case culture and more

This post will not be your typical blog, I will post videos of recent show case events while discussing aspects of show cases I have noticed. I usually say a lot of funny shit in my post but I want to keep this as respectful and unbiased as possible, because just like me the people in these show cases are working hard towards a dream and trying to build themselves up to something more.

Up until 2012 I was only dabbling with with doing shows, but in 2012 I stepped it up tremendous. Every one always says "yo you gotta do madd shows to get on" but after doing many shows......NIGGA these shits is counter productive, don't get me wrong doing a show is way more productive than not doing anything but let me explain what the problem is with these shows after you check out these videos ......

1.Money-  People believe that they should be getting paid to perform, but na....as an artist you have to pay to perform or bring out paying customers, while bringing out your following or team is fine and dandy, at the end of the day if I bring 20 people to a venue and they all pay $20 dollars to get in, I just made $0 while the promoter/venue just made $400 dollars off of me. WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANY ONE WANNA DO THIS

2.BIAS & Pre- determined winners So how am I going to go to a show and find out that the host of the show is related to one of the contestants, and "Ironically" that family member just happens to win. REALLY........The criteria in which the "judges" are going by are usually: creativity, lyrics, stage presence and crowd reaction, but somehow the dude rapping about drugs, saying swag and getting no love from the crowd wins somehow.

3.EXPOSURE-  what type of following can I build from performing in front of a whole bunch of people trying to do the same thing I am. 9/10 these shows are filled with artist and their people, SOOO no one in attendance gives a fuck about your music or wants to follow your career, however networking can happen.

4.WTF-  You bring out all your friends, they pay money to support you, and possibly come from work or have work the next day and have to listen to all the other artist who happen to be WTF's (watch below to see what I mean, skip to 6 minutes in)

..... Soo I just got my people to come out spend they money to support me and they have to endure this........HOW THE FUCK DO I CONVINCE THEM TO COME OUT AGAIN? The culture of these Very Very undergorund shows...........
I could talk about the nick minaj wannabes, asap rocky copies, and cheif keef impersonators, but I dont want to go on all day. Some one or something has to abolish all this wack shit that takes place at these shows....I dont wanna complain about this shit for all these paragraphs so I will just end it with my dude    Crimes Da God Final performance.

  1. Now, this is what I'm talking about; coming to the realization about this so called "artists-run" showcases. It's best as an indie/underground artist to build their name by getting on their grind promoting their music on college radio then networking with different dj's on the club circuit to get your single played
